RED SQUIRREL AWARENESS WEEK 21-27th SEPTEMBER

RED SQUIRREL AWARENESS WEEK 21-27th SEPTEMBER

2020 TOLLYMORE RED SQUIRREL GROUP CITIZENS SURVEY

Autumn is here and it is a good time to try and find out the number of Red Squirrels there are about, and the areas that they are occupying. We need this information so that we can keep an eye on their health and well being and look out for any signs of a drop in their numbers which may be caused by disease or predation. This information would allow us to take appropriate action if needed.

At this time of year the red squirrels are most often found feeding on hazel nuts, up in the Larch and Scots Pine trees feeding on the seed cones, and eating sweet chestnuts and fungi.

You can help by recording any red squirrels you see in Tollymore Forest Park and the surrounding areas of woodland such as, Donard Wood, Tipperary Wood, Castlewellan Park and all the smaller woodlands, and anywhere in between!

So when next you are out on a walk keep your eyes open for those red squirrels.

TO RECORD A SIGHTING OF A RED SQUIRREL GO TO www.tollymoreredsquirrelgroup.com and click CONTACT US and there you can fill in the details such as date, place seen, number of red squirrels and what they were doing.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING YOUR LOCAL RED SQUIRRELS.

Current situation

We know that you and many others like minded folk are very keen to get back on track with your plans to attend and complete a range of personal skills training and qualifications in a range of disciplines.

Believe us when we say we are equally keen to get outside with you and help you reach your goals and complete that journey.

How do we know? Because every day we get emails and phone calls asking when will courses resume and with every NI Executive mention of easing of restrictions the emails and phone calls are more frequent……
