Coronavirus and Tollymore National Outdoor Centre

March 2021
Current situation

As you are probably aware the current advice from the Northern Ireland Executive, Health Promotion Agency NI and Health & Safety Executive NI, as well as our expert group within Sport NI is that we cannot deliver any face to face courses for our customers including use of the Hot Rock Climbing Wall.

We know that you and many others like minded folk are very keen to get back on track with your plans to attend and complete a range of personal skills training and qualifications in a range of disciplines.

Believe us when we say we are equally keen to get outside with you and help you reach your goals and complete that journey.

How do we know? Because every day we get e mails and phone calls asking when will courses resume and with every NI Executive mention of easing of restrictions the emails and phone calls are more frequent

Don’t Give Up! Looking Ahead

The latest news is that there is a strong possibility that as of April 12th 2021 we may be able to begin delivery of some skills, leadership and coaching courses with some very tight restrictions.

• Low ratios
• Social distancing and minimal contact
• Non-residential
• No indoor/classroom session
• Quarantined equipment

This is very exciting for us and our staff here at the centre to begin doing what we do best, looking after our customers and delivering high quality experiences and training to all of them.
National Governing Body Awards,
We are in continued discussion with our various governing bodies, all of whom want to see courses up and running but we may be required to apply some restrictions to what we can realistically deliver within the current guidelines.
I think it is fair to say we are all doing our best to ensure we can get back to delivery of awards as soon as it is safe and reasonable to do so.

Booking on Courses
You can currently book on any Tollymore courses through the website but these dates as always may be subject to change as per NI Executive Covid guidelines.
Any postponed courses will be rescheduled and you will be offered a place on the new date or a full refund.
We are also happy for you to contact our admin team admin@tollymore.com for further course information or just to register your interest in a particular course.

Coronavirus and Tollymore National Outdoor Centre 2020

Since March 2020, the world of outdoor activity and adventure sports has changed dramatically. We went through a period with very restricted access to outdoor spaces and when restrictions were eased, there was a sudden and huge increase in the number of people participating in a range of adventure sports. Tollymore re-opened to deliver courses at the end of July, following an extensive review of policies and risk assessments.

A number of changes were made including:

  • Our accommodation capacity has been reduced from over 40 people to a maximum of 18.
  • Limited access to the centre
  • Revised and updated risk assessments
  • All participants on our minibuses must wear face coverings at all times on minibuses (unless an appropriate medical cert detailing otherwise is provided)
  • New equipment management policies were introduced to ensure all equipment supplied to students on courses is corona – free
  • Climbing Wall capacity has been reduced

Tollymore continues to deliver a range of skills and leadership courses to groups and individuals and we will do everything reasonable to ensure that your course meets all of your needs, is safe and is delivered in a fun, learning environment!

You can still drop in to buy tea and coffee, brownies and traybakes and sausage rolls.

Tollymore will continue to be guided by the advice from the Northern Ireland Executive, Health Promotion Agency NI and Health & Safety Executive NI, as well as our expert group within Sport NI.

Tollymore National Outdoor Centre has a long history in providing skills and leadership based courses for various types of groups and individuals which introduces participants to one or more adventure sports. Courses and programmes range from one day, non-residential courses through to programmes over a week long. New world , new you, learn a new skill.
