The Discipline Specific Training focuses on the ‘how’ to coach and ‘where’ to coach the technical and tactical discipline specific skills.
The course will help you plan and deliver quality, safe, enjoyable, progressive coaching sessions in a moderate river environment, and you’ll explore specifics to help you coach some typical athletes/learners relevant to you/your discipline.
Is this course for me?
This two-day course provides the discipline specific training required to progress to the British Canoeing white water kayak Coach Assessment.
You will need good knowledge of the discipline(s) you wish to coach as this training provides the content of WHAT you will be coaching. Prior to training, craft-based coaches should ensure that their personal skills (and leadership skills) are well practiced in a moderate river environment. This will allow you to focus on developing your ‘coaching’, rather than your ‘paddling’. Please contact the head of paddlesports if you have any further questions.
To attend the training, you will be required to have full Home Nation Association Membership
and have completed you BC Core Coach Training
