You must also ensure you have fulfilled any of the pre-requisites as indicated in the Syllabus. This includes:
Be seventeen years of age or older
Have at least 6 months of climbing experience
Have climbed on at least 15 occasions on three different artificial walls and have successfully led a number of climbs on walls (some of the routes should be recent – within the past six months) this must include at least one major covered wall.
10 led routes at Fr 4 on walls
Ensure “D” log (online log) is up to date outlining all aspects of experience relating to the award

This training course is for potential group supervisors and assumes basic competence as a climber with experience of leading routes on an indoor climbing wall (course pre-requisites). It will emphasise those skills which candidates might have difficulty in learning without expert guidance. A few minor aspects of the syllabus may not be covered during the training course and candidates are expected to deal with these items themselves.
This CWI training course aims to introduce many of the technical and soft skills required to run safe single pitch climbing and bouldering sessions on an artificial wall.
As you are probably aware the current advice from the Northern Ireland Executive, Health Promotion Agency NI and Health & Safety Executive NI, as well as our expert group within Sport NI is that we cannot deliver any face to face courses for our customers including use of the Hot Rock Climbing Wall.
