This REC Level 2 is a two-day course (16 hours).
The Emergency First Aid Course is certified for three years and is an entry point for the REC scheme. It is the approved course for British Canoeing, Mountain Training, Royal Yachting Association Cycling Ireland and other goverinng bodies of sport..
It is designed to introduce a systematic way of first aid for managing casualties. Topic learning and practicals intermixed with scenarios of real situations. The course includes:
- The fundamental workings of the body, in particular the heart, lungs and airway
- Assessing a casualty
- Introduces a system to cope with all incidents as safely as possible
- Deciding how to deal with an accident or incident
- Awareness of delayed medical help and adverse environmental conditions
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
- The course will start promptly at 9.15am on Saturday morning
- There is an evening session on Saturday evening
- The non-residential course fee does not include accommodation on Saturday, or breakfast on Sunday, but does include packed lunch both days and evening meal on Saturday.
- The residential option includes accommodation on Saturday night, all meals from lunch on Saturday to lunch on Sunday (2 X lunches, 1 X evening meal, 1 X breakfast, lots of tea and coffee)
- The course will finish no later than 4.30pm on Sunday
↓ Who is the course for?
This REC Level 2 course is perfect for those who require first aid training to enable them to work in an outdoor environment. All the REC courses run at Tollymore have a bias towards caring for people in a remote environment on land or water.

↓ What does my course fee include?
The REC Level 2 course fee includes kit, equipment, in course transport, coaching, food and accommodation.
Course accommodation will be in shared twin ensuite rooms. If you would prefer not to share a room, single occupancy may be available for an additional charge.
The non residential price includes everything that the residential option includes, except accommodation on Day 1 and breakfast on the morning of Day 2
