Tollymore we will be running a number of coaching sessions which focus on fine tuning the skills of rolling. Our low student to staff ratio guarantees lots of individual feedback and one to one opportunities. Our ability to use video feedback on the pool side allows you to see first hand what areas you need to focus on.
Our rolling clinics are designed to identify gaps in your performance and work on ironing out those ‘wrinkles’. We will also provide you with an action plan to further develop the consistency of your roll after you leave.
In order to maximise your learning experience, the ‘Step Up Fine Tune Your Roll’ skills course is provided on a maximum student ratio of 1:4; this is to ensure you can maximise one to one time with your coach.
This ‘Next Step Learn to Kayak Roll (Pool Skills 2)’ course is not designed for beginners but for those wishing to learn how to roll a kayak. Also for those interested in progressing down the road to independent paddling the Eskimo roll is a big step on this journey.
Day 1 |
Setting your boat up, recap on getting in and out, core strength and edge contro and confidence building exercises. |
Day 2 |
Develop edge control, and introduce ‘hip flick’, Eskimo rescue and low brace. |
Day 3 |
Develop basic skills and introduce high support stroke and ‘x rescue’. |
Day 4 |
Develop high support stroke further into a reliable Eskimo roll. |
All technical equipment will be supplied by Tollymore so all you will need is swimsuit, towel, toiletries, goggles and nose clip (if you have them).
Our pool is stocked with the full range of Dagger Mambas, RPM and Junior kayaks and Pyranha Burns. We also have a Valley Aquanaut and Avocet in the pool for those wishing to learn to roll a sea kayak.
The course fee includes all technical equipment and coaching.
The ‘Art of Rolling’ published by Pesda Press.
Current situation
As you are probably aware the current advice from the Northern Ireland Executive, Health Promotion Agency NI and Health & Safety Executive NI, as well as our expert group within Sport NI is that we cannot deliver any face to face courses for our customers including use of the Hot Rock Climbing Wall.
We know that you and many others like minded folk are very keen to get back on track with your plans to attend and complete a range of personal skills training and qualifications in a range of disciplines.
Believe us when we say we are equally keen to get outside with you and help you reach your goals and complete that journey.
How do we know? Because every day we get emails and phone calls asking when will courses resume and with every NI Executive mention of easing of restrictions the emails and phone calls are more frequent……
