Duke of Edinburgh’s Award / Joint Award Initiative Residential

Tollymore National Outdoor Centre Approved as

Duke of Edinburgh Provider

Tollymore National Outdoor Centre is thrilled to announce that it is now an approved Expedition and Residential activity provider for the Duke of Edinburgh and International Awards.

Tollymore as approved Duke of Edinburgh Provider can offer a wide range of residential and expedition opportunities throughout the UK, Europe and further afield.

The Duke of Edinburgh award scheme (DofE) is the world’s leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 to 24-year-olds the opportunity to challenge themselves in a range of environments and develop as a person.

Many young people find achieving a DofE Award life-changing.  A fun adventure and major challenge with three progressive Award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a wide range of activities which offer endless possibilities to anyone aged 14 to 24. Millions of young people in the UK have already taken part in this, the world’s leading youth achievement award – pushing personal boundaries, gaining new skills and enhancing their CVs and university applications.

Two key elements of the DofE award are the Bronze, Silver and Gold Expeditions and the Residential (Gold Award only). These are all mandatory requirements of the relevant awards.  Tollymore National Outdoor Centre will be offering a range of advertised open programme residential opportunities and will provide opportunities for DofE groups to complete their expedition programmes at all levels.

In Northern Ireland Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has a Joint Agreement with Gaisce – The President’s Award which enables young people who complete the programme to have a choice of Award certification: a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Certificate, a Gaisce –The President’s Award certificate or an International Award Certificate.

When participants have completed all sections of their programme they just need to let their respective leader know which certificate they would like to receive.

Many young people struggle to arrange the “residential” section of their Duke of Edinburgh/Gaisce – The President’s Award. Tollymore National Outdoor Centre who have a wealth of experience delivering skills and leadership programmes to the highest level in many parts of the world, aims to help bridge this gap whilst providing a fantastic opportunity to take part in an outdoor skills development residential.

We know that you and many others like minded folk are very keen to get back on track with your plans to attend and complete a range of personal skills training and qualifications in a range of disciplines.

Believe us when we say we are equally keen to get outside with you and help you reach your goals and complete that journey.

How do we know? Because every day we get emails and phone calls asking when will courses resume and with every NI Executive mention of easing of restrictions the emails and phone calls are more frequent……
