Some previous hillwalking experience is required, such as attendance at a Frist Step Navigation course, or getting pout into the hills a number of times with a walking club
This course will be based in the Mournes on mountain and hill terrain.
It is planned to imporve participant’s knowledge of areas such as:
This course is for those who are keen to develop their hill walking skills and experience and want to develop their skills and knowledge.
You will be required to bring along personal clothing such as, waterproof jacket and trousers, boots, fleece jacket, hat and gloves, flask, water bottle, Mourne Map (1:25,000), and spare clothes. It’s best to bring plenty of lighter layers and avoid cotton if possible as it offers little heat and takes ages to dry out if wet or sweaty.
Please ensure you bring along a device which will allow you to ‘stopwatch’ your time.
Tollymore can supply most of the equipment you require for this course but it is preferable to use your own were possible even if it’s just a chance for your instructor to comment on your kit and give advice.
The price of £67 includes a packed lunch, use of all equipment, in-course transport, and instruction from one our highly qualified and experienced female instructors.
Your course is a one day course, so accommodation is not provided. However, we do have changing rooms, showers and lockers available for your use.
We can offer you a nights’ accommodation and breakfast either at the beginning or end of a course for an extra £28.50 per person. This is a great way to further enhance your time at Tollymore and savour the beautiful majestic setting that the Centre has to offer.
Our catering is first class, noted both for the quality and quantity of the food that we provide. Your course is catered, so you will be provided with a packed lunch for the day. You may however wish to bring your own personal snack food for use during the course. You can fill a flask with tea or coffee at the Centre if required.
